Remembering Tommy – November 3, 2010

We remember Tommy by celebrating his life.

We are grateful for our time with him – his love, his friendship, his exuberance for life, his sense of humor, and his many passions, talents and interests. The years were too few, but he lived and shared them intensely with all of us.

Tommy has taught us that mental illness is a serious disease – often, not easily diagnosed nor recognized – and that we must take care of ourselves and those we love. Together we will continue to raise awareness and understanding so that individuals will actively seek help for themselves or others.

And we will be grateful for and live to the fullest every precious day of our lives.

I would like to share with you a poem sent to me by a friend. I found it comforting.

And if I go while you’re still here
know that I live on,
vibrating to a different measure
behind a thin veil you cannot see through.
You will not see me,
so you must have faith.
I wait for the time when
we can soar together again,
both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to its fullest
and when you need me,
just whisper my name in your heart,
I will be there.
